Emergency Medications and Allergy Pass

An allergy patient who has a severe allergic reaction must be prepared. A severe allergic reaction can occur within minutes and can often become life threatening before medical help arrives. Especially patients with food and insect venom allergies are affected.

These patients are issued with emergency medications. The patients and their families must be advised about their correct use. Emergency medications for adults consist of four tablets and an immediate acting adrenaline syringe for self-administration. Applying the shot is easy but must be practiced with a dummy syringe in the practice.

Emergency medications for children are adjusted according to their weight and preferences (drops, dissolvable tablets).

An allergy pass contains information about the type of allergy, the substances to be avoided and, if possible, the substances which are tolerated and about the emergency medications to be used.
